Design for Performance

here is the final result of my first set design.
it is a character space for the Queen of the Night from the opera "The Magic Flute."

Hayley and I finally made it to haunt this year. we went as ravers, it was halloween.
we were surprised how many people, monsters and guests, thought we were real ravers.
i guess our outfits were just that good.

Opening Night

crazy busy

i'm so busy.
especially this week.

i have rehearsal for Jane Eyre.
a history project i'm super behind on.
a playhouse to build for design (that i was up til 3am working on last night..)

i'm going to be so drained at the end of this week.
but then saturday is my reward.
i'm going to HAUNT with hayley, marie, tess and a bunch of people.

the school year starts officially tomorrow morning as i attend my first class of the year.

and i'm auditioning for the fall production of "Jane Eyre." the auditions are this friday.
if i'm cast in the production, i'll have rehearsals on top of that schedule.

i'm excited for this school year!!

Back to School

I'm heading back to school soon. real soon, this saturday.
i'm looking forward to this school year.
i can't wait to get back into theatre. i've got some exciting things lined up for this year and i cant' wait to get started.

Father's Day

We went to Firefly for lunch for father's day.

I PASSED!

I am now a California Licensed Driver!!!
Sooo happy.

Disneyland/License Test

So tuesday i went and applied for a job at disneyland. and i was hired!
i'm going to work in the stores in the westside of disneyland. now i have to do some paperwork and need to go back on monday to turn them in and finish some other paperwork. however, it has to be on tess's birthday :( i don't like that... now she has the day off and its her birthday so there is no chance in hell that i'm gonna ask her to drive me down there monday nor would she agree to do that anyway. sooo i need to pass my license test on friday.

speaking of driving... i had a behind the wheel lesson today. to refresh myself and to get some professional tips and corrections so that i will be ready to pass on friday. she showed me some very useful things for driving how the dmv reguires to pass. at the end of the lesson she said that if i work on those small things and practice them more in tomorrow's lesson too i should be fine, she said everything looked good. i have more confidence that i'll pass.

Golly... i'm really entering into adulthood now... leaving the teen years behind...
graduating from college and moving out of the house really aren't that far away...

should I?

so when i bought the red hair dye i also bought some black hair dye. i was in fact originally thinking of dying my hair black again but thought last minute i would try something new and if i didn't like it i'd dye over it black. but i liked the red sooo now that the red is faded and my roots are growing in brown... i wanna cut my hair short and dye it black.
i mean i already spent money on the dye... i don't wanna waste it by just never using it. plus if i cut my hair short then it will grown in fast and i can hopefully be almost back to brown by the time school starts again.

i've decided not to dye my hair black. but to dye it brown and cut it as to try to get back to my normal color faster.

Summer work

So i made it through til the second round of the disney character audition today but alas was cut.
Now i'm am considering calling the LA Zoo and seeing if they'll hire me again for this summer. Due to a few people expressing concern about driving back and forth from disneyland and home, especially since i'll be a new driver when i get my license (test on the 15th!) i have thought about maybe seeing about the zoo.
If the zoo won't hire me again then i'll apply to disneyland for a normal job, not characters. and i'll look other places too in case disneyland doesn't hire me.

ponderments of a wannabe leading man

I've been pondering quite a bit about what it might be like to try to get into film or television. mostly i've been pondering if i'd even be good enough to impress audition panels. also i don't know the first thing about that realm. i don't know how to find auditions, if i need a manager or agent, etc etc. i just don't know. i mean i'm just thinking at this point. i don't know yet if this is a goal that one day i'd like to enter into that realm and see if i like it or if it is just a boyish dream. i have been told that film actors and live theatre actors are total different animals. i have heard that it takes a great actor to be good at both. i have also heard that it is easier for a live theatre actor to transition into film than it is for a film actor to transition into live theatre. i don't even know if now is the best time to start looking or if i should wait unitl i graduate. i don't know. it would be a miracle if i could find a summer acting job. i want to continue to work on my craft. and i don't want to have to wait for the school year to begin to do that.
i'm going to apply to work at Disneyland. i'm going home this weekend to audition for walk around characters. i really hope that i get a job as a character. it'd be acting for work. oh how fun that would be. we'll see come sunday.
well that is my pondering at the moment.

I won two free tickets to a special performance by Christina Aguilera at the San Diego Civic Theatre.
It is Wed. the 23rd at 8pm. So Vanessa and I are leaving tomorrow morning (or rather this morning) for San Diego and will return Thursday morning bright and early.

my addictions

in no particular order, these are my addictions. they are mostly, if not all, positive ones. you're not obligated to read this.


1. i am addicted to facebook. i used to be addicted to myspace then i deleted it and got hooked on facebook. i have since gotten a new myspace and luckily am not addicted to it like i used to be. but when it comes to facebook i change my profile pic way too much, i am always updating my status. i make myself sick.

2. i am addicted to staying up late. i can't help it. i love it when everyone goes to bed and i can finally have real time to myself. i listen to music and just surf the web or just sit and think. sadly this doesn't help me in my issue with sleep. i can't fall asleep easily and so i can't wake up in the morning. even if i go to bed before midnight, i won't fall asleep until well after 2am. then once asleep i am a very heavy sleeper and my body wants to keep sleeping until i have gotten the right amount of sleep. however, my life with school etc does not permit this with the late night schedule i like to keep.

3. i am addicted to music. it is my escape. i listen to music every chance i get. u can bet that if i am in my room i will be listening to music. any music, random music. because music is my escape, if i am playing my music so that you can hear it, there is a good chance u can tell my mood by the kind of music i am playing.

4. i am addicted to theatre. i need it. without it i have no drive in life. it is the reason i was put on this earth, i believe this more and more as i progress in the theatre program here at Westmont. it is the only area in my life where i feel i can excel and will receive appreciation and respect.

5. i am addicted to my friends. i love one-on-one time with my friends. i prefer that over going out with a big group. i also love hanging out with a small group of friends. but i really love just spending time with one or two of my friends. really getting to know them. finding time to just goof off to time spent discussing the new chapters in our lives.

6. i am addicted to GOD. i'm pretty sure that i don't need to say much here. most of, if not all, my friends are addicted to Him too. without Him i wouldn't be who i am today, where i am today. without Him i don't know if i could carry on in this heartless world.

7. i am addicted to my family. i love them so much. along with God, i them them with every fiber of my being, all my heart, soul, and mind. i would give my life to save any member of my family. while i am on the journey to find out who i am living dependent from parents, i find that i will never completely be independent from them. they are a big part of who i am today. they raised me and continue to do so today. they provide much needed support and guidence.

I can't believe how fast time seems to be moving.
soon mayterm will be over and i'll be home for summer.

Mayterm

mayterm classes have started.

christian doctrine is going to be a little bit of reading and work.
i have reading every night and a quiz every friday. plus a 8-10 research paper due june 4.

fitness by the sea i hope will be fun.
for class i can just run/walk at the beach. i do have to do a little outside of class stuff, 75 hours a week outside of class activities. shouldn't be too bad i've already done 30min for this week.

no shuttle service during mayterm. this makes me a sad panda.

so mayterm will be over june 8 and then i'll come home for the summer

FINALS WEEK IS UPON ME!!
Lucky for me i only have one written final and it is tomorrow (or later this morning ahh!).
So it will be done and out of the way soon. Then i have a two more theatre class papers to write.
My acting class for our final time, which is in the morning on Tuesday, are going to visit the monastary that is nearby.
We are going for their early morning service and breakfast. I'm excited. It will be an interesting experience.

ok this was my last study break. i'm gonna study a little more and then hit the hay.
PRAY FOR ME! MY FINAL IS MONDAY 12PM-2PM!!!!

Fringe Festival

The Westmont Fringe Festival is finally over.
Now i have to focus on finishing the semester strong.
Then i will be here on campus for mayterm. I hope this goes well as i have not done mayterm before.
